One-tusked elephants are generally believed to bring good luck.
In the year 1978, the then Minister of Ports and Maritime Affairs Mrs. Wimala Kannangara paid the one-tusked elephant or Nilame elephant to the Sri Dalada Maliga Elephant, and the number of elephants in the elephant grew rapidly.
Eka Danta or Nilame, who lived as the leader of the Dalada Maliga Elephants until his death due to an illness on March 12, 2017, was a reliable mature elephant king who could have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the procession at any time.
I still remember like today when the procession in Nilam, swinging to the rhythm of the procession, marching on the feet under the Malveyan in a solemn royal procession. These traits can also be seen in Ekadanta's best friend Sinha Raja.
Normally Sinharaja / Nilame Athu and Perahera Karaduva Vadammana Sinharaja / Nilame Athu are clearly two different people.
For many years, Ekadanta alias Nilame performed the duty of leading the parade procession like a goddess.
As per the usual line up and timing, the noon procession starts on time
It is a challenging matter to connect with the Satara Dewala Perahera, which arrives at Diyakapa and leaves for the Katukele temple, and ritually parades around the palace square and pays the right auspiciousness. On such occasions, the procession is hurried, but Ekadanta is told to hurry without any panic. Everyone who knows Ekadanta still fondly remembers Ekadanta, who is walking at a loss as if he is not himself.
Those who experience a sudden natural death without any intervention, be it long term or premature death, are truly lucky.
Looking at it that way, the unicorn is really lucky.
May the great Nirvana be attained by a Bodhi where Ekadantaya or Nilame, who has filled Paramita for thirty-nine years for the sake of Monk Dalada or Nilame, has prayed for the end of God and man's happiness.
