Sak Surin Aka Muthu Raja
The Thai Environment Minister has stated that the Muthuraja elephant will not be returned to Sri Lanka.
The minister has stated this while responding to the request of the leader of the country to return the elephant.
The minister mentioned that Muthuraja could not even discuss further the accession of King Sak Surinthai.
As a donation from the Thai government, the country's government took steps to take the Muthuraja elephant, which had been in the country for twenty-two years, to Thailand.
It was for further treatment of the sick elephant.
The Muthuraja elephant that was taken in this way has been quarantined at the elephant conservation center in Lampan state.
Thai media reports that Muthuraja is recovering after undergoing treatment.
Also, media reports say that Muthuraja shows a more enthusiastic nature and is more attuned to the country's language.
It has been revealed in the initial tests conducted in that country that Muthuraja has developed cataracts and is unable to bend his front left leg.
In addition, the country's reports had stated that he was diagnosed with infected wounds on his back, and there were disorders of the soles and nails.
However, the most senior doctor of the veterinary team who came to take Muthuraja from Sri Lanka had mentioned in a Facebook post today that by the time Muthuraja was taken from Sri Lanka, about 90% of Muthuraja's pus cysts had healed.
It also stated that there were no injuries on the soles of the feet or the tail.
He had thanked the veterinary officers of Dehiwala National Zoo for that.
Meanwhile, the country's government is also focusing on two other elephants donated by Thailand.
The Thai media has also reported that a team including veterinarians will be sent to this country in September to investigate the health condition of the elephants.
