Digha 2, a royal tusker king who lived in the Kalawewa National Park and had a pair of sharp tusks like two swords spread out on both sides, has now disappeared. Finally, it has been almost 4 years since Digha 2 was reported in 2019 and there is still no evidence as to whether Digha 2 is alive or not.
Some say that Digha 2 is dead, but no acceptable evidence has been found. Digha 2's pair of sharp tusks made many elephants afraid to fight with him, and Digha 2 killed an elephant in 2018 by stabbing him with his tusks. Due to this, Digha 2 tried to take the kingship of Kalawewa, but Kalawewa still had a king. That was, Revata is the king of tuskers.
In the year 2020, a fierce conflict between two tuskers was reported from Kalawewa, one of which was identified as Revatha. But it was not possible to identify the other tusker and after that a dead body of a tusker was found in Kalavewa. Many people thought that this was Digha 2 tusker, but it was impossible to say for sure as the body had already deteriorated by then. However, the tusker's body had deep tusks and the tusks of the Revata tusker king were not so deep. Therefore, it cannot be said that it was Revatha's blow. Also, if there was a fight between Digha 2 and Revata, no matter how strong Revata is, there should be at least an injury due to the couple of Digha 2. Revatha is a stronger tusker than Barana, but his absence of any injuries will further complicate this mystery.
Also, a fact that further complicates this mystery is the injured tusker king who was reported in Siambalangamuwa Ussagala area in April 2020. Information was reported by the villagers that a tusker king who is believed to be roaming near the base of Digha 2 with a wound as big as a large gash in the Usagala area. The villagers called him the tusker of Kalawewa and the tusker king could not be seen later. However, the wound on that foot was very big and smelly, and if the tusker king died from it, where is the tusker's body? Where is that tusks couple? If there is a tusker in Kalaveva, could it be Digha 2? It will further complicate this mystery.
However, it has been almost 4 years since Digha 2 disappeared and all of us who love elephants do not want to believe that Digha 2 is dead. All of us are still hoping for Digha 2.
