Today is the annual new rice festival at the historic Senkadagalapura Sri Dalanda Palace, where Lord Dalada offers new rice.
The New Rice Festival, which is considered the first of the four annual festivals held for the noble Tooth until the Sun and Moon remain in accordance with the Udarata Rajajna, is held in the month of Vas Duruthu, when the rain begins at the beginning of the rainy season.
